PM Marape backs PNG Barramundis in ICC World Cup debut

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape says Papua New Guinea is fully behind the Kumul Petroleum PNG Barramundis as they  make their first-ever senior International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup appearance on Sunday (October 17) .

The Barramundis will be playing ICC World Cup co-hosts Oman in their history-making debut on the world stage.

“Papua New Guinea will be fully behind you as you make your ICC World Cup debut,” was PM Marape’s message to the Barramundis.

“It is a very proud moment for PNG and you can rest assured that you carry the hopes and aspirations of our nation of a thousand tribes.

“I have been following your footsteps into the ICC World Cup, since meeting all of you at Parliament recently, and wish you all the best.

“I am happy that my Government,
through Kumul Petroleum, is major sponsor of the PNG Barramundis.”

PM Marape said he was also very happy to hear that the young PNG cricket stars had been very good ambassadors for the country.

“I am excited, just like everyone in PNG, to hear that the  team is adjusting to being on the big stage and is excited to be making all of us in PNG proud,” PM Marape said.

“I will be watching your game on TV on Sunday and urge everyone to do likewise

“Go PNG Barramundis!”
