OCTOBER 12, 2022
Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has welcomed Australian Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Richard Marles into Papua New Guinea.
He is in PNG for the opening of the Australian-funded Angau Memorial Hoospital in Lae tomorrow (October 13, 2022), which will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP, Hon. John Rosso, on behalf of the PNG Government.
“I appreciate Hon. Marles’ taking time for this visit to PNG,” PM Marape said.
“This is not the first time for him to visit our country, as he has been here many times before, and we welcome him back.
“We thank the Australian Government, people and taxpayers for this magnificent new hospital in Lae, fully supported by our Government, which will greatly boost delivery of health services to our people.
“This will also further strengthen the good relationship between Australia and PNG from colonial days up until now.
“Hon. Marles’ visit will be a precursor to the Australia-PNG Ministers’ Forum in Canberra next month, and the visit by Australian Prime Minister, Hon. Anthony Albanese, to PNG in December for our bilateral meeting in Wewak.
“I look forward to receiving him tomorrow in my office.”
