Bougainville investment summit set for May 2021

The first-ever Bougainville Economic and Investment Summit will be held in Arawa on May 5 and 6 this year.

This was one of the nine resolutions of the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) meeting in Arawa last Friday (February 5, 2021). 


Prime Minister Hon. James Marape got the ball rolling with K3 million support for the conference.

He made a commitment to be back for the conference. 


“We commit K3 million to assist the investment seminar,” PM Marape said.

“We will do our best to bring Port Moresby-based businesses to come and have a look around to partner locals.” 


PM Marape said the K20 million earmarked by the National Government for Bougainville SME loans would be launched at the May conference.

This represents 10 per cent of the K200 million given by Government for SME loans this year.
