The Marape Government made a major breakthrough in remote Sialum, Tewai-Siassi, Morobe, today with the launching of the Tewai-Siassi Cattle Farmers Market Support Project.
This is an initiative of the Marape Government under its Agriculture Intervention Programme.

This is the first major Government assistance to Sialum cattle farmers since Independence in 1975.
Agriculture and Livestock Minister Hon. John Simon launched the project at Kanome Station.
The Government will build a stockyard and buy cattle from Sialum farmers, and ship to Lae as well as other provinces, to beef up PNG’s cattle industry.
Present with Minister Simon were Morobe Governor Hon Ginson Goheyu Saonu, Tewai-Siassi MP Hon. Dr Kobby Bomareo and Livestock Development Corporation Managing-Director Terry Koim.
Minister Simon also presented K100, 000 to the local cattlemen’s association.
Governor Saonu made a commitment of K50, 000 to the association.
Minister Simon also presented 100, 000 for coffee development in Tewai-Siassi, and K100, 000 for cocoa development.
Livestock, coffee and cocoa officers will be permanently based in Sialum.
MP Bomareo launched several infrastructure projects at the same time.
