Minister Simon, when told about the abundance of fresh produce in Tewai-Siassi, said he would also direct the Fresh Produce Development Authority to send an officer to the district.

He said he would work with Tewai-Siassi MP Hon. Dr Kobby Bomareo and Morobe Governor Hon. Dr Ginson Saonu to set up the buying point at Sialum.

“We will buy cocoa, coffee, copra and cattle here,” Minister Simon told a cheering crowd.

A traditional Sialum welcome for visitors.

“How you take out your produce to market is not your problem, it is my problem.

“You just look after your produce, remain in your villages, and continue with what you are doing.

“My job is to buy your produce and take it to markets.

“That is the job of your Government, your MP, your Governor and myself.

“That is why you voted us.

“The Pangu Pati, under the leadership of our Prime Minister, aims to bring services right to the doorsteps of the people.

“Our people should not be running around looking for markets.”
